How You Can Take Action
How You Can Take Action
In order to take action, you don't have to be a lawyer, policymaker, or aid worker. Every person has the power to stand up for human rights. Here are meaningful ways you can help support justice in Ukraine, wherever you may be in the world.
1. Share Information Publicly
What you can do:
Repost social media posts, infographics, and survivor stories on social media. You can use trusted sources like the UN, Human Rights Watch, and Ukraine-based journalists.
Why this matters:
Attacks on essential institutions such as hospitals and schools are violations of the Geneva Conventions. Public documentation can help support legal accountable and make these crimes more visible to others.
2. Donate to Humanitarian Organizations
What you can do:
Support organizations that help provide shelter, medical aid, legal assistance, and psychological support– like HAS, UNHCR, and Voices of Children.
Why this matters:
Civilian infrastructure is being destroyed, and access to basic necessities are limited. Many donations directly help those displaced or injured by war.
3. Support Legal Investigations and Petitions
What you can do: Sign your name to petitions supporting further ICC action or call on your government to support international tribunals for aggression.
What this matters:
The forced deportation of Ukrainian children and the widespread and systematic torture violate the Rome Stature. The global public may be able to support international legal action.
4. Educate Yourself and Others
What to do:
Read about the Geneva Conventions, Rome Statute, and how international human rights law works in zones of conflict. Share what you learn with others.
Why this matters: Understanding the laws behind these violations can help you advocate more effectively, as well as avoid spreading misinformation.
